Leon is well connected with the nearest cities and from there you can take different roads to get you destination. Just as an example: 

• Road A-66 communicates Leon with Madrid (south), as well as with Gijón(up in the north).
• Highway A-6 (Carretera de La Coruña) goes through all Castilla y Leon, communicating Madrid with La Coruña, in the far north-east.
• Road A-231 goes east, passing by Burgos, where you can take other directions.

By Bus:

  From this 14^th century palace only remains the main body, the facade and a Mudejar style door made of stone. It was the headquarters of the Court of the Spanish Inquisition for a long time and after the improvement works will be the Washington University's head office in Spain.

• Murallas romanas (Roman Wall)
  This Roman wall, built between the 1^st and 4^th centuries, used to enclose the city. The part in better state of conservation is from the Tower of Ponces, behind the Plaza Mayor, to Puerta del Castillo, and from here towards the Tower of San Isidoro.

  This gorgeous Medieval style construction with evident Modernist influences was created by the famous Catalonian architect, Antonio Gaudí. Nowadays, it is the main office of the bank Caja España, which carried out the improvement works.

• La Real Colegiata de San Isidoro (The Royal Collegiate Church of St. Isidoro)
  This is one of the most relevant architectonical compounds of the Spanish Romanesque. It was created as a monastery dedicated to John the Baptist, but after receiving the remains of St. Isidoro, Bishop of Seville, its denomination changed. The compound was built and enlarged during the centuries 11^th and 12^th.
  The Collegiate Church is made up of the Basilica, the Museum, the Pantheon and the Library, which can be visited by experts and investigators.

• Panteón de los Reyes (The Kings' Pantheon)
  Emplaced at the lower part of the Basilica of St. Isidoro, it was the burying place of most of the kings and queens of the old Kingdom of Leon during the Middle Ages. It is considered to be one of the top pieces of the Spanish Romanesque and it is decorated with scenes from the New Testament.

• Iglesia de Santa María del Camino (St. Mary of the Path's Church)
  People also call it Iglesia del Mercado or 'Market Church'. It is located in the old town and dates from the 12^th century, although it has suffered several reforms at different periods of History. Inside, the principal pieces are a Baroque altarpiece representing the Virgin Mary, a Pietà from the 15th century, the organ and some stained-glass windows.

• Iglesia de San Marcelo (St. Marcelo's Church)
  This church was built in the 18^th century in the site of another one from the 10^th century and was dedicated to the centurion that was martyred due to his Christian faith. This church is an important stop for many pilgrims doing the Camino de Santiago in their way to Compostela.

• Iglesia de San Martín (St. Martín's Church)
  This church construction started in the 11^th century, then it was reformed in the 12^th and 16^th century and the most important details were created in the 18^th century. It has a Romanesque facade and a bell tower adjacent to it.

• Iglesia de San Salvador de Palat del Rey (St. Salvador de Palat del Rey 's Church)
  It is the oldest church in town, as it was built by Ramiro II in the 10^th century with the aim of founding a monastery. As historians say, this was the burying place of the kings of Asturias, before St. Isidro's Pantheon existed.

  They were the Catholic Monarchs who ordered the construction of The Monastery of San Marcos for the Order of Santiago. Currently, the Monastery hosts the Museo de León & a hotel of the Paradores chain. One of the master pieces of the Spanish Renaissance.

• Museo de San Isidoro (St. Isidoro's Museum)
  The Museum is inside the Collegiate Church and exhibits a gorgeous jewel-encrusted agate chalice, a richly illustrated handwritten Bible and many polychrome wooden statues of the Virgin Mary.

• Fundación Vela Zanetti (Vela Zanetti's Foundation)
