Information:
El Tarter is the most dynamic of Grandvalira’s sectors with people everywhere! The reason for this is that it’s in this sector that we find some of Grandvalira’s biggest attractions, making it a melting pot of different types of clients giving it a colourful atmosphere.
In El Tarter you’ll find allsorts: from a teenage beginner learning to slide on the snow for the first time, to the expert freestyler throwing down a “720 Rodeo” in the ACG Snowpark El Tarter, to the racer competing on the Esparver race course or those testing skis and boards for specialist magazines like Solo Nieve or Solo Snowboard.
To facilitate this coming and going of mountain enthusiasts, a new 10-seater gondola has recently been built from El Tarter car park to the Pla de Riba Escorxada. This lift provides fast, comfortable access to the resort from this sector.
El Tarter background
The El Tarter sector is one of Grandvalira’s easiest access points with trouble free parking for cars and buses in the 1600-space outdoor car park from where it’s possible to take the new gondola up to Pla de Riba Escorxada (2.100 m.), the nerve centre of this sector. It’s in this area where you’ll find the buildings that house the most important of El Tarter’s services. For example: the Ski and Snowboard School Centre or the Snow Garden and Nursery. Also in this area are some of the sector’s restaurants and cafés like the Riba Escorxada Self-service restaurant, on the ground floor of the former, the Fun Food El Tarter and the Espress’oh! Cafeteria.
El Tarter is by far the most colourful sector and with most activity in Grandvalira. There are options for customers of all ages, technical levels, tastes and preferences. There’s a Mickey Snow Club Kid’s Track for children between 5 and 12 years of age, the Stadibumps F.I.S. recognised mogul field with 8000 m2 of bumps, a Competiton Stadium on the Esparver run for alpine ski lovers and the NIKE ACG Snowpark with a halfpipe, rails and a selection of hits, for intermediate to advanced riders. This terrain park in El Tarter is the envy of the Pyrenees and has become a freestyle Mecca in Andorra as well as for Spain and the French Pyrenees.
Also, for freeride freaks, there are 4 Ski Ratrack routes, consisting in a piste-basher machine that tows skiers and boarders up to the Pic d’Encampadana where off-piste conditions are unbeatable. This is a completely free service!
Last of all there’s a Mushing track with Husky dogs pulling sleds for those who prefer a more laid back alternative to so much adrenalin.
The El Tarter Medical Centre can be found at the bottom of the resort, next to the sector’s Reservation Centre.
