On top of the Santa Catalina hill, this 18th-century castle has been beautifully renovated keeping its huge stone walls and many historical features to make for an authentic stay in Jaén. Inside the Parador Jaén, you can travel back in time to the 18th-century when you walk through and admire the original features. Look up to high, arched ceiling, wooden beams and beautiful, tiled floors throughout. Be enchanted by the decor which is in complete harmony with the historic structure, using classical-style furniture with an Arabic influence. Soak up the sunshine which this area enjoys most of the year and then cool off with a refreshing swim in the Parador Jaén’s outdoor seasonal pool. Enjoy meals in the dining room which has a distinctive Arabic character. Here, you can sample many traditional delights such as the varied soups and salads of the region.

We had a standard double room and we found it rather small.
At the reception desk all were friendly, except the young woman who was at the desk. It's a pity as it gives a not so good first impression.
At the restaurant all waiters were very friendly and gave a good service, always with a smile.Hats off!
One little negative point: the menu was rather limited and the chosen starter was not available. This should not happen in a four star hotel.
Summer would be a better time to visit this parador. -

unfriendly staff, no ideas how to satisfy guest
the offered standard is not what we got (swimming pool and garden aerea not available, but no alternative to stay and relax outside on a 30°-day)
not recomandable

Our opinion: is the only bad experience in our Analucia-week.
The staff is not very friendly and not really interest to let you feel as a welcome guest. For example: the Swimming Pool was under repair, but no alternative for "disfrutarse" on a afternoon with 30o!! Even not a possibility to stay in the garden or on the balcony - no interest to have an idea!
We can really not recomnand this hotel for the price of 177.- / Night!!

Awful experience, the room temperature was too hot, the iberic ham (jamon iberico) was not recently cut but vacuum packed. Second dishes were too cold and not really good. Prices of the menu really high for an average/low quality. Waiters didn't appe

Checking up on some details prior to our visit in April. Have stayed at several paradores and the standard of all of them is superb. Wonderful buildings, wonderful food, wonderful wines and service of the very highest order.
