The absence of traffic noise makes the lodge a deeply peaceful retreat. Local activities include mountain climbing and hill walking, a myriad of land and sea activities and two golf courses. Killarney National Park is within 5km of the town. The town is flanked by The Beara and Iveragh penninsulas which offer over 200 km walking routes.
