With over one hundred years of service, the Fonda Siqués is a point of reference in the world of innkeeping in La Garrotxa and in the region of Girona. The structure of the establishment is that of a typical end-of-the-XIX-century Catalan Inn, devoted to changing the carthorses of the carriages. The current dining room used to be the stable, and still preserves the original drinking trough and manger, and next to it were the hauliers' dining rooom, the village café and the gentlemen's dining room, which was right next to the kitchen to provide suitable service. Originally, hauliers slept in the stable on a straw beds, later rooms were built in which the maids slept, and later on more rooms for guests. The first guests were school teachers sent to the village and who had nowhere to eat or sleep; other pioneer guests were musicians who came for the Festivals: Sant Vicenç, minor festival, or Sant Prim i Felicià, major Festival. Later on rooms were added, which were renovated over the years, including bathrooms and central heating. The last renovations were made on July 1st 1995, so that the hotel now has 5 Single Rooms and 22 Double Rooms, all of them equipped with Bathroom, Heating, Telephone and TV and some have air-conditioning. The rooms on the first floor already existed when the hotel opened as an Inn. Although smaller than those on the second floor, they still preserve the characteristic look of the beginning of the XX century, but with the comforts a XXI- century-customer needs.
