• Cochifrito de cordero: half cooked lamb fried with ham, beans, tomatoes, peppers, garlic and spices.

• Mazapán de Toledo: traditional dessert (mostly eaten at Christmas time) elaborated with almonds, confectioner sugar and eggs.

  Its construction started back in the 13^th century under the rule of Fernando III the Saint and was finished in the 15^th century. • Mezquita del Cristo de la Luz (Mosque of Christ of the Light)
  As the inscription in the upper part of the door says, this mosque was built in 999, during the Caliphate era. After the Christian conquest, it was turned into a church, but preserving its original shape.

  This Franciscan monastery was built by order of the Catholic Monarchs commemorating the Battle of Toro and the birth of Prince Juan. Built by the architect Juan Guas, it is considered to be one of the most valuable pieces of the Isabelline Gothic.

• Iglesia San Román (St. Román Church)
  This Mudéjar temple was built in the 13^th century over the rests of an Arabic mosque that had been built over a Visigoth basilica. Currently, it hosts the Museo de los concilios y de la cultura visigótica (Museum of the Councils and the Visigothic Culture).

• La Sinagoga Santa María la Blanca (The Synagogue of Mary the White)
  The old Major Synagogue of Toledo was built in the 13^th century and was turned into a church in the 15^th century. As time went by, it was used for diverse purposes, such as prison for repented women, a warehouse or a carpentry workshop.

• Convento de Santo Domingo el Antiguo (St. Domingo the Old)
  This Dominique convent was built in the 14^th century and it's the oldest one in Toledo. It contains an altarpiece made by El Greco, a museum and a shop where you can buy the sweets made by the convent's nuns.

• La Sinagoga del Tránsito (The Synagogue of the Transit)
  Samuel ha Leví, an important figure in the court of Pedro I, was the one who ordered the construction of this synagogue in the 14^th century. After the Jews were barred from Spain, the temple was given to the Order of Calatrava. Beside the main nave, we find a museum explaining the history of the Jews in Spain, the Museo Sefardí (Sephardic Museum).

• Plaza de Zocodover
  This plaza is the heart of the city. Built in the 17 century and was partly designed by Juan de Herrera. In this plaza you can find the oldest and biggest marzipan shop in town, as well as a lot of bars and fast food restaurants. Also it is one of the main stops for a lot of buses . 

• La Alhóndiga de Toledo
  This 17^th century renaissance building was built by Toledo Town Hall with the aim of collect the grain of the city. Currently, the building is used for administrative purposes.

• Alcázar de Toledo
  Its long history began when a Roman palace was built in the upper part of the city. Then, it went through restoration works in the era of the kings Alfonso VI and Alfonso X. In 1535, Carlos V entrusted Alonso de Covarrubias with the reconstruction of the palace, which had to be rebuilt again after the Spanish Civil War. Nowadays it hosts the Museo del Ejército (Museum of the Army).

  One of the best examples of Mudéjar military architecture in Spain.

• Termas y arcos romanos de la Plaza Amador de los Ríos (Roman Arches and Hot Baths)
  This Roman remains give us an idea about the size and complexity of the city of Toledo in the Roman era. Toledo was planned following the prevailing urban model at that time, that of the city of Rome. It's a reference of the Civil engineering of its time.

• Circo Romano (The Roman Circus)
  This circus, with capacity for 13,000 souls approximately, was built around the time of Augustus or Tiberius. In the Muslim era, this space was used as a necropolis and it was not till the 20^th century that it was recovered for public use or contemplation, with the creation of the park known as Campo Escolar. Here you can visit the part of the circus that has already been studied.

  Inside the Jewish quarters, this house exhibits works of El Greco, as well as furniture, pottery, tiling work, old objects and an exhibition of paintings and sculptures form the period between the 15^th and 20^th centuries.

• Museo de Santa Cruz
  Created in the old Hospital of Santa Cruz, a Plateresque building of the 16^th century, this museum hosts the collections of both the Province Archeological Museum and the Museum of the Parish of St. Vicente. The exhibition in the Archeological section shows remains from the Prehistory to the Modern Era, while the Fine Arts section hosts an exhibition of Toledo paintings from the 16^th and 17^th centuries, including the series of paintings by El Greco, the Asunción de la Virgen. It also has an Industrial Arts section, where you can see bits of popular culture and craftwork tradition (pottery, glass, clothes, forge and gold and silver work).

• Hospital de Tavera
  This hospital, also known as the Hospital of St. John the Baptist, was founded in the 16^th century as the Hospital de Santa Cruz wasn't able to cope with the demand. It is the last work of Covarrubias, in a renaissance style. Currently, it hosts the Museo de Duque de Lerma, which contains works by key artists as El Greco, Ribera, Tintoretto and Lucas Giordano, among others.

• Museo de los concilios y de la cultura visigótica (Museum of the Councils and the Visigothic Culture)
  Inside the Church of San Román, this museum was created with the aim of protecting and preserving the Visigoth remains in Toledo. Basically, the collection contains archeological rests from the 6^th, 7^th and 8^th centuries.

• Museo Sefardí
  Situated inside the Synagogue of the Transit, this museum makes a full review of the history of the Jewish people and then focuses in the Sephardic people. Therefore, it explains the situation of the Jew population in Spain, their expulsion in 1492, the converses, the Inquisition, and their life in the Christian Spain. The visitor can also see a collection of sepulchral inscriptions in Hebrew.

• El Museo del Taller del Moro (Museum of the Moorish Workshop)
  Located in an old Mudéjar palace of the 16^th century, it exhibits works of art and craftwork of the 14^th and 15^th centuries. Its rooms remind of those in the Alhambra.
