Sucre, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, is the historical capital of Bolivia and the capital of the region of Chuqisaca. Called the White City, on its founding it was named “city of Silver of New Toledo” in the 16th century. The city is considered the country’s largest tourism center for its checkerboard streets that bear a colonial design that few cities have preserved.
