Located in South-West Morocco, Agadir is a popular tourist destination with its proximity to the Atlas Mountains and the Atlantic Ocean. Agadir is a beautiful city with a mellow beach vibe and a varied cultural scene. The lovely mosques, stunning museums and exciting entertainment centres highlight the gorgeous architecture. Since the city was destroyed by an earthquake in 1960, the rebuilding made it a modern city, but you can still find a few aspects of the traditional heritage.
If you are a history enthusiast, visit the Kasbah in Agadir, a beautiful historical and artistic attraction. You can also enjoy the history of Agadir by visiting the Medina Polizzi in the middle of the city. It was rebuilt in 1992 after an earthquake destroyed it and showcases the mediaeval history of the city. The Memory Agadir Museum tells the story of Agadir in an honest and nuanced fashion and shows the historical beauty of this city, offering a fascinating walk in the Garden of Olhao or the Garden of Portugal.
Agadir is a popular destination for outdoor excursions and exploring your nautical side. As a port city, Agadir is surrounded by long and wide beaches with golden sands stretching for a few kilometres. You can enjoy numerous activities on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, like swimming and sunbathing. When exploring the natural attractions in the area, you should visit Crocoparc and spend some time with the reptiles. Alternatively, hit the trails of Paradise Valley Park. It is in the heart of the desert, tucked into the Atlas Mountains and dotted with palm trees, rocks and rivers. You can explore the scenic trails that lead to rustic villages or hunt for swimming holes in the rivers dotting the park.
Best time to travel
Agadir has a subtropical desert climate, which means the winters are tempered, and the summers are hot and dry. While the summer weather may be warm for outdoor activities, summers are still the peak tourist season due to their beautiful beaches.
March – June
Agadir enjoys a warm climate all year round and in spring it is no exception, although a slightly higher degree of humidity makes this season a pleasant time of year to visit. The humidity from the winter months combines with rising temperatures to create ideal outdoor weather.
Weather
The temperatures rise steadily during spring, with warmer temperatures in the later months. The highs range from 23.2°C (73.8°F) to 30.8°C (87.4°F), with May being the warmest month. Rains are rare during spring, with only two days of precipitation expected.

In March, Motorcyclists have a date with the Enduro d’Agadir – X Rally, a four-day motorcycling competition in which the riders will cover a distance of 1,200 kilometres in the fascinating Moroccan desert.
Also in March, the world’s best golfers compete in the Hassan II Golf Prize, one of the most prestigious tournaments with more than 40 years of history.
Price Evolution
Despite the moderate weather, spring is fairly slow for tourism in Agadir. That means it is the perfect time for those looking for deals. You can stay in comfortable hotels at a lower price than in peak seasons. If you are lucky to visit in May, you get a glimpse of the summer as the crowds increase steadily.
June – September
Agadir summers are beckoning if you love basking in the sun and enjoying the golden sands on the beaches. Agadir has the perfect temperatures for a classic summer holiday, but we recommend planning your trip in early summer, when the weather is rising without reaching the highs of the central months, which can go up to 40°C (104°F).
Weather
The mid-year months have steadily rising temperatures, making them the hottest months in Agadir. You won’t experience any precipitation since the summers are dry. In July, the summer temperature peaks at 30°C (86°F) with nightly lows of 18°C (64.4°F).
Events & Parties
At the end of June, the Timitar Festival takes place, a gathering of Berber bands from all over the world to enjoy an atmosphere of tradition and modernity combined for 3 days, in celebration of Berber culture.
You can also attend events in the neighbouring towns. For instance, Goulimine (Guelmim) hosts a Camel Festival every June on Tan Tan Road. The event is both religious and cultural.
Price Evolution
June and July are the busiest tourist months in Agadir, with everyone wanting to enjoy the great weather and swim in the Atlantic Ocean, accommodation near the beach resorts and the ocean region can be significantly more expensive.

Due to the warm weather on some days, swimming and enjoying the beach should be your priority, as snow is minimal and it can be difficult to find skiing and snowboarding areas. Agadir does not suffer from excessive price hikes for beach tourism but, like any coastal destination, it is advisable to book in advance to avoid possible increases in accommodation prices.
