The entrance to the Rutz on Chausseestraße in Mitte looks rather inconspicuous, but the idyllic inner courtyard terrace, overgrown with vines, vegetable shrubs and garden herbs, is probably one of the most beautiful places in Berlin in the summer. And the creative Mediterranean dishes that star chef Marco Müller conjures up in the kitchen are also worth seeing and eating well: In 2022, the Guide Michelin honored the wine bar Rutz with three stars for the third time. While lunch menus tend to be offered for people working in the area, inspiration menus with six to ten courses are on the menu in the evening. The prices per person for such a menu are on average about 320 €, depending on the design.

Tim Raue – Asian cuisine for two stars

Between Checkpoint Charlie and the Jewish Museum, star chef Tim Raue opened his restaurant a few years ago. In Rudi-Dutschke-Strasse, the gourmet is inspired by the various cuisines of Asia. His dishes combine Japanese product perfection with Thai aromatics and Chinese kitchen philosophy. In order not to burden body and soul, the chef deliberately avoids side dishes such as bread, pasta and rice, as well as white sugar. For an appealing dinner, plan between about €100 and €170 per person. Tim Raue’s restaurant was awarded two stars by the Michelin Guide for its tasty and clean creations; it has also been voted among the top 100 restaurants in the world several times.

Also decorated with two Michelin stars is the cuisine of the Lorenz Adlon Esszimmer, the gourmet restaurant in the Hotel Adlon Kempinski. Enjoy haute cuisine in an elegant ambience with a view of the Brandenburg Gate and in winter with a crackling fireplace. The gourmet team of the noble restaurant will spoil you with culinary works of art of French cuisine, fine wines and perfect service. Horváth: A Piece of Vienna in Berlin

On Paul-Lincke-Ufer, which is probably the hippest part of Kreuzberg, star chef Sebastian Frank will spoil you with Austrian delicacies. The Viennese-born chef took over the Horváth ‘s kitchen in 2010 and achieved his first star in his first year. Then in 2015 came the second. Michelin connoisseurs especially praise Frank’s determined product cuisine, which feeds on his biography. Thus, the blood praline and the celery matured in salt dough are among Frank’s signature dishes, with which he spoils his enthusiastic guests. Sebastian Frank’s creations cost between about €185 per person for a six-course meal and up to about €215 for an eight-course meal.

Simply heavenly – Facil

Two stars are also awarded to Michael Kempf, the up-and-coming star of Berlin’s haute cuisine. At Facil, the restaurant of the Mandala Hotel in Tiergarten, Kempf conjures up creative dishes with a Mediterranean twist. Enjoy the delicious creations in the glass pavilion on the fifth floor. Surrounded by a bamboo grove and under almost the open sky, you will feel like you are in a gourmet paradise. For example, enjoy a gourmet menu at lunch, which costs between about €180 and €260, depending on the number of courses. Don’t forget dessert: Because at Facil, star chef Kempf is joined by Thomas Yoshida, who was named Pâtissier of the Year by Gault & Millau in 2016.

A perfect finish at Coda Dessert Dining

In music, Coda stands for a gentle ending – in Berlin’s restaurant scene, Coda Dessert Dining aims to provide the perfect end to the evening. Six-course dessert menus including corresponding drinks and snacks will be served. In terms of price, these range from about €130 to €240, depending on the version. The creations are outstanding in terms of craftsmanship, beautifully arranged, but above all subtle in taste – and completely without sugar. Then, starting at 10:30 p.m., top pastry chef René Frank will serve à la carte orders as well as a selection of bar food and cocktails. For its intense and inspiring delicacies, Coda in Neukölln’s Friedelstraße was honored with two Michelin stars.

The Bandol sur mer

In the hip Mitte on Torstraße, star chef Andreas Saul treats his guests to French delicacies at Bandol sur mer. In addition to classics such as foie gras or country terrines, the menus on offer mainly use regional products such as beet, pear or nettle. Prices per person for a menu are about 160 €. Sommelière Lisa Karsten provides the appropriate wine background. In winter, there is room for about 20 guests in the small restaurant, while in summer, the outside tables are a great place to watch the hustle and bustle of the busy street. Bandol sur mer has been awarded a Michelin star.

Star chef Alexander Koppe serves heavenly dishes in the Skykitchen on the twelfth-floor panorama floor of the Andel’s Hotel. But you will feel close to heaven not only thanks to the breathtaking view, Koppe will rather spoil you with exceptional dishes, based on regional quality products, prepared with a lot of creativity and purism. In addition, the Berlin native is a master of draping food. Two menus are offered, one of which is vegetarian, plus a very good beverage accompaniment, which also extends to a cocktail from time to time. Whether vegetarian or not, for a menu you should calculate about 150 €, including the appropriate wine accompaniment with up to 230 €. The Skykitchen also convinces the Guide Michelin to one star.

Cookies Cream on Behrenstrasse in Mitte is completely vegetarian. The one-star eatery combines casual gourmet cuisine, Berlin charm and cool backyard chic. The open kitchen gives a clear view of the two chefs: At Cookies Cream, club legend Heinz “Cookie” Gindullis and chef Stephan Hentschel have their chef’s hats on. They serve novel experimental creations like Parmesan dumplings with Perigord truffle broth on spinach and pine nuts or celery ice cream with apple, walnut and herbs.
