The impact of tourism in Seville, unstoppable in recent years, has been accompanied by an enormous growth in the gastronomic offer. We are talking about a millenary city, with a good climate, an extensive historic center, conditioned for the visitor’s enjoyment, and with a wide variety of fast food restaurants and food trucks to discover. Eating in Seville is a pleasure even if we take a walk. Due to strict legislation in the case of mobile establishments, we will now focus on ten of the best urban food establishments in Seville. Great options for those impromptu evenings when hunger strikes.
Breadsquare: the empanadilla in Andalusian style
In a tiny shop in the Plaza de Jesús de la Pasión, more popularly known as Plaza del Pan, you can find the best empanadillas of old Híspalis. Handmade from Andalusian ingredients and products, they have tried (and more than succeeded) to emulate the flavors of some of the typical tapas and montaditos of Sevillian gastronomy; from the classic Sevillian chicharrones to the Iberian pringá, passing through the mantecaito and ending with the popular serranito. The snack is really affordable. And each empanadilla costs only 2 €.

The Zapatazo
Very close to the busy Alameda de Hercules, at number 23 Peris Mencheta Street, you can enjoy the best street food from Turkey in the city. The shop is run by Hokman Joma, a Kurdish refugee with a Syrian passport, famous for throwing a shoe at Recep Tayyip Erdogan in 2010. It is difficult to find a more inspired preparation than the durum, kebab and falafel that can be tasted at El Zapatazo. Oh, and they also have pizzas. It is enough between 6 and 8 € to be able to enjoy a more than decent meal.

Kukuchurro
Perhaps at a time when the traditional churrerías in the Old Town have been slowly dwindling in number, a modest chain has managed to revitalize the concept, picking up on the more traditional aspect of churros (also known as warm) with chocolate, combining it with modernity, thanks to the practical and innovative packaging that allows them to be tasted on the street. Don’t be fooled by its simple recipe of flour, sugar, water, salt and oil: this is a real delicacy. Kukuchurro has three locations on Regina Street, next to Las Setas, in Plaza del Salvador, near the City Hall and on San Jacinto Street in the Triana neighborhood. The combination of churros for four people with a jar of chocolate included costs 21,50 €, i.e. just over 5 euros per person.

La Tradizionale
At number 96 of the popular Feria Street, next to the Royal Parish of Omnium Sanctorum, stands another great temple, but in this case, of street pizza. La Tradizionale is a large two-story glassed-in restaurant that serves the most generous portions and best value for money in the Old Town. Light and tasty food to take away in the form of a portion, with the unmistakable flavor of the wood-fired oven. It is essential to accompany the portion with a good bottle of Sevillian beer to get the most out of its atmospheric nights. Portions from 2 €.

Roiz Butcher’s Shop
There is a butcher’s shop with more than just tradition in the Mercado de Abastos on Feria Street, which has been run by three different generations of the same family from the 1930s to the present day. We can speak of it almost as an institution. One of the hallmarks of the place are the homemade products such as butters, sobrasadas or sausages (mainly sausages and blood sausages), which delight their regular customers. However, its real star product is undoubtedly the chicharrones: exquisite fried pork products, served to take away and enjoy in the streets and taverns of the area. Every day they produce 50 kilos and the queues that form in the butcher’s shop are no longer a surprise to anyone. For 10-20 euros you can get a good cartridge of pork rinds to enjoy with friends.

Akela Brewery
The Akela brewery is a modest Triana business that offers several key features that make it very special. It has the typical appearance of a Sevillian tasca of several decades ago. Castiza, practically unrenovated and tiny, its terrace offers the opportunity to enjoy the atmosphere in a unique enclave of the city. From there we can glimpse the movement of the Altozano square, the Triana bridge and the bustle of the Mercado de Abastos. Its menu, with particularly affordable prices, combines local specialties such as croquettes, garlic prawns and serranitos, with imported tapas such as enchilada or lasagna. Surprisingly, its fame revolves around the preparation of its delicious German sausages (frankfurters or bratwurst), presented in a fresh white bread and accompanied by homemade fried onions. You can enjoy them for less than 4 €.
The potato you carry
The obsession to recover a traditional snack in low hours, led an entrepreneur from Seville to build this lively place in the central Juan de Mesa street. We can say that it has been a success. Their traditional style fair potatoes transport us to the past in just one bite. The smell of oil, the touch of salt and its crunchy texture make these potatoes the best companion for a walk towards the Plaza del Cristo de Burgos or Las Setas. In addition to the attraction of being prepared in front of the public, at La Papa que llevas you can also enjoy pavías, almonds and even chicharrones (pork rinds) at popular prices. A good packet of potatoes costs 1-2 euros, almonds cost only 2 euros and pavias cost 5 euros.

Bar Jerusalem opened its doors in 1987 and has specialized in the preparation of its delicious shawarma ever since. In the heart of Salado Street (specifically, at number 6) lies the classic taste of the most authentic Arabian food. With a budget of only 6 to 10 euros, you can eat well until you are full.

Freiduría El Arenal
In the tourist neighborhood of Arenal, there are still establishments that resist the continuous (and almost unstoppable) mutation of the commercial landscape that the city has been suffering for decades. To taste the best fried fish in the area you have to go to Freiduría El Arenal. Founded in 1904, it is one of the best options to enjoy the variety of seafood products served in paper cartridges: squid, cuttlefish, marinated dogfish, battered shrimp, cod croquettes and hake sandwiches are among the best options. With a budget of 10-15 euros you can buy a couple of cartridges to enjoy with a beer or a drink.
